UNGA 2018 - Education Side Events

The 73rd session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 73) will convene at UN Headquarters on Tuesday, 18 September 2018. The General Debate will open on Tuesday, 25 September 2018, with a focus on the theme, ‘Making the United Nations Relevant to All People: Global Leadership and Shared Responsibilities for Peaceful, Equitable and Sustainable Societies.’

Global Lessons for Domestic Efforts to Prevent and Counter Violent Extremism

The EU, GCERF, and the Kofi Annan Foundation

This panel discussion will provide an opportunity to listen to and learn from young people directly affected by and pushing back against violent extremism.  The event is co-hosted by the European Union, GCERF, and the Kofi Annan Foundation. INEE Evidence for Education in Emergencies (EiE) Workshop Series: Setting a Strategic Research Agenda

Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies, Journal on Education in Emergencies (NYU) 

The Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE), together with key partners, is organizing a series of inter-agency workshops on evidence for education in emergencies (EiE). These events will bring together public and private donors, policy makers, practitioners, and researchers, with a focus on sharing updates on research and learning agendas, and discussing current EiE research themes and gaps in the field. The first event in this series will be hosted by the Journal on Education in Emergencies (JEiE) at New York University (NYU). The ultimate aim of this kick-off workshop is to establish a process, timeline, and dedicated committee to develop a new INEE Strategic Research Agenda for INEE and the EiE sector.
