Online Discussion: Teachers in Crisis Contexts Training Pack Implementation

The Teachers in Crisis Contexts Training Pack - Implementation Discussion Series is an online special discussion series hosted by the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE). The series’ goal is to demonstrate how the recently published Primary Teachers in Crisis Contexts Training Pack is being and can be used and adapted in education in emergencies contexts.

The discussion series will present use cases from different organizations on how they are adapting, implementing, and learning from use of the pack, engaging with the EiE community to indicate how the teacher training pack can contribute to improving the quality of teacher professional development in crisis contexts.

This discussion series will launch during the week of 18 October 2016; new discussion topics will be posted each week for seven weeks.

Promising Practices for Strengthening Teacher Professional Development in Crisis Contexts

Wrap Up, Lessons Learned, What’s Next for the Pack & Intro of Teacher Support Pack

In early 2016, the Teachers in Crisis Contexts Working Group (TCCWG), in close association with INEE, launched a new inter-agency training pack for teachers in crisis contexts. The materials are the product of a unique collaboration and respond to a critical gap in open source, competency-based training materials that provide coverage of the foundational knowledge and skills required by teachers in humanitarian and low-income settings. The materials are designed to be used in a range of contexts by a range of organizations, and they have undergone systematic review and field testing in Iraq and Kenya as well as external review by a range of EiE specialists. The TCCWG is now developing further initiatives to provide ongoing practical support to teachers between and after trainings.

The forum is organized and facilitated by:

  • Boom Martinez - International Education Coordinator, Jesuit Refugee Services, Rome
  • Paul Frisoli - Senior Technical Advisor - Education, International Rescue Committee, USA
  • April Coetzee - Senior Education Advisor Research and Development - War Child Holland
  • Suha Tutunji - Academic Director for Refugee Education Program in Lebanon, Jusoor
  • Peter Transburg - Senior Communications Coordinator - INEE
